Talks and Shows
With so few native British orchids we would like to promote these beautiful plants as standard parts of the garden. It is important that they are produced from seed so that they do not endanger wild populations. We aim to help in the education and dissemination of knowledge about growing orchids by our presence at plant fairs and shows and by talking to interested groups.
With best wishes,
The Team at Bewdley Orchids
We have now decided on our plant fairs for the year and have the dates and places listed here.
Bodenham Arboretum Saturday 15th April
Spetchley Gardens Sunday 23rd April
Kingston Bagpuize Sunday 28th May
Arley Arboretum Sunday 11th June
Highnam Court Sunday 23rd July
We will be delighted to discuss your successes and answer any queries which you have regarding garden cultivation of native orchids.
Don't forget that if you can't get to our talks, we are always available at the shows to discuss orchids. If you are thinking of repopulating a large area and would like to talk about larger scale plantings, the plant fairs are an ideal place to meet us.
22nd August will see us at Cheltenham Orchid Society.
If you would like a presentation from Bewdley Orchids, Dr Wilson Wall will be happy to come along with plants and describe the process of growing orchids in your garden. A typical talk will cover the introduction of native orchids in lawns, meadows and flower beds, as well the different species we grow, plant care and naturalisation.
Our talks are free of charge, apart from travel expenses, and we bring along native orchids for sale to members.
You can get in touch with us via the contact page.
If you want to try your hand at moving plants from sterile culture to pots and then on to flowering, we can provide the plants. These are unsuitable to be sent through the post, but we are able to take them to shows or talks. If this sounds interesting just drop us a line via our contact page and we will let you know if we have the plants available.
You can pick up and pay for the plants at a show of your choice, so don't forget to tell us which one you will be visiting.
Each flask will contain 5 plants and be £30, regardless of species.
